Emergency & Urgent Care

Medical emergencies can occur suddenly and without warning, especially in cats, who are masters at hiding illness.

During regular business hours, Atrium Cat Hospital is happy to treat urgent care and emergency cases. If possible, please call 919-351-9292 in advance so we can prepare for your arrival.

If we are closed and your cat needs immediate care, we recommend the local emergency and urgent care hospitals listed below. Call ahead to check on availability and wait times. Hospitals may redirect patients if they are at capacity.

Urgent or Emergency: What’s the Difference?

  • An urgent care veterinary facility provides treatment for minor illnesses and injuries when your primary care veterinarian is unavailable.
  • An emergency veterinary facility is equipped to treat life-threatening injuries and illnesses, providing overnight care, extensive surgeries, and/or advanced nursing care.
